Fall Beauty

Fall is quickly approaching and I couldn’t be happier. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not looking forward to nine solid months of rain, but I do love wearing sweaters, smelling fires (the hearth kind, not the forest kind), and I LOVE how the makeup colors change in the fall! Wine stained lips, dark polish, amber and deep purple colored shadows… Since I am perpetually a pale Northwest girl, I don’t do well with the bronzed summer looks and love seeing the deep colors that look perfect on my (really, really) pale skin. I have taken time to look over the fall trends seen in the magazine, ads, and runway shows and will give you guys the lowdown on what is hip, hot, and happening this fall.

Berry Stains: There is nothing that says fall like deep stained lips. This is a great trend for someone who is not ready for a full dark lip to pair with those warm fall sweaters. Simply dab on a berry colored lipstick with your ring finger and add a little clear gloss.

Orange Lipstick: Okay, you are thinking “What?” I honestly never thought I could wear orange as I tend to picture that crazy dayglo orange Avon lipstick my mom had in the 70s, but today’s oranges are beautiful. Look for one with a slight pink tone and one that is more of a light wash of color, not fully opaque. Oranges look gorgeous with purple shadows, too (another fall trend).

Green Shadow: I am loving this trend, ever since I learned how to wear green with my green eyes. Think lots of black liner to define the difference between “eye” green and “shadow” green. Even if you are not ready for a whole green eye look, try a neutral eyeshadow with a deep green below your lower lashes. This is a great way to try any bold color for the first time.

Black Liner: Black liner is making its way back this season. On the runway the liner is very thick and nothing you’d ever where out of a club…not that I do that anymore! Ha! But a bit of black along the waterline will smudge down to your lash line giving you the look without looking like you partied all night (or were so busy with the kids you forgot to remove it from the day before).

Metal shadows: I have loved metallic shadows for years, but only recently have they gotten visibility. They are actually the perfect daytime eye when worn as a wash with brown mascara and neutral lips. I wore some silver shadow the other day and got a great compliment from my husband.

I think what I like best about the fall trends this year is that while they are expected for this time of year; they are done in a fresh way and more wearable to those of us not walking a cat walk.

Yes! New Osa Bella!

Oh happy day! Osa Bella has posted a new chapter.

TWITARDED: Osa Bella - Chapter 25 "Concerning Vampires" [Twilight FanFiction]

Aack!

Okay, I seriously need to get back in to writing. Just posting my thoughts to who knows who out in cyberspace. LOL! I have a piddly 6 followers. Hmm...I need more. That would encourage me. Anyone out there? Knock knock. :)

Glitter Overload!!!

I LOVE GLITTER!!! Okay, now that I have stated the obvious, if you know me, here's my review of a new launch!

I got a chance to pre-order for Digi Pops and Dare to Wear at my local stand alone today. I LOVE the new lipstick – I am a glitter nut! It was hard to do, but I narrowed my pre-order to three and one of the Dare to Wear lipglasses. The lipglasses are OMG to die for! Totally opaque and metallicy. I picked Ban This! as it was so unique for my collection. Bold and Brash is hot, but probably not something I would wear a ton. It is kind of like Queens Sin in metal form. Gimme That! was also great, but very similar to the bold fuchsia that came out with Fafi. Just more opaque.

As for the Dazzle Lipsticks, it was really hard to pick. Liquid Lurex is like Vex in lipstick form. The only thing was that it is very sheer and the green tone might look a bit odd over other colors. There are a few others that are gorgeous, but have to be worn over something. I picked out Naughty You, Snazzy, and Smash Hit. Smash Hit will have to go over other colors, but its gorgeous!

Sorry, but no photos. The lead MA was in the store and she would freak if I brought out the camera! LOL!

And I am so very sad. I just found out my fav MA - and all around great lady - is leaving the store and moving to So Cal. Which sucks for me, but at least I can see her on our visits. She is hoping to be at South Coast, so if you go in there in a month, be sure to see if Shante is working.

4th of July EOTD

Here is my 4th of July EOTD (eyes of the day). I really liked this blue look. Please ignore the gray in my hair...I just got it colored and about 4 inches taken off, but this photo was from before that! Ugh!

Products Used:
MAC Painterly PP
MAC Clear Sky Blue pigment (Pro)
MAC Mutiny pigment (LE)
MAC Blue pigment (discontinued - I found mine on eBay)
MAC Deep Truth e/s (perm)
MAC Reflects Blue pigment (LE)
MAC Smolder liner

I did A LOT of blending on this one. I hope you like it!

Shrek strikes

Here is the Shrek collection I mentioned. The blue below is called "What's with the Cattitude?" See, Cat was in the name. :) The color on my nails here is "Who the Shrek are you?" It is kind of a yellowish pea green. Surprisingly I liked it. I think next time I will add some glitter or something, though.

Summertime Blues

Here's my current nail look. It is the blue from the Shrek collection - something with "Cat" in the name - and then Sally Hansen Silver Lining over the top. Odd hand placement, I know...I was trying to cover the chipped middle finger as the nails are three days old. Great wear though with only two chips on ten nails! The glitter looks a bit grey in the photo, but IRL, it is less noticable and bluer.

Eclipse Premiere!

I went to see ECLIPSE last night. It was AWESOME! So good that I am going again on Saturday. Ha! Just for the premiere, I did up my nails like the cover art from the book. I used LA Girl Matte in Matte Black, drew on the "ribbon" with LA Colors Art Deco in White, then went over the squiggle with China Glaze Ruby Pumps. The red turned out a bit pink over the white, so I later went over the whole nail with Ruby Pumps again. It gave a great red sparkle over the black and the "ribbon" looked redder. Sorry for the slightly worn tips; I did the dishes before taking the photo! Hope you like! :)

Funky Leprechaun

Here is my first attempt at blogging my nails. I tend to redo my nails any where between once and three times a week. I love sites like Xsparkage and Scrangie for ideas, inspiration, and encouragement to experiment. My makeup looks have really dropped off the map recently, so hopefully blogging my nails will lead to blogging my EOTDs. Enjoy!

I love SinfulColors. They are crazy cheap - $2 to $2.99. I can find them at Fred Meyers, Walgreens, and Rite-Aid. The colors are amazing and most of them have decent coverage - 2 coats. It is fun to play with new colors without breaking the bank. This is my newest find called Call You Later. It is a clear base with kelly green and lime green glitter. The photo makes it look a bit chunky, but it is not. It is nice and thick, so that is two coats.

The middle photo actually gives it a truer to life color. The other photos make the glitter look dark, almost black, but under normal lights (no flash) you can really see the two colors of green and it is phenomenal. I wish I had this polish for St. Patrick's Day - it's like a Leprechaun in a bottle! I put the two coats of Call You Later over two coats of China Glaze Paper Chasing. Love it!

To The Beach

I thought I would share about the To The Beach release party I attended last night. There is nothing much better than an evening looking at makeup, sipping a lime cocktail, and getting to check out some eye candy. Ha! Leave it to MAC to hire two young cuties to pass out drinks and appetizers (one looked like he stepped right out of the pages of Twilight as a werewolf!), not to mention the other hottie who was posing in board shorts and nothing else. :)

Aside from the eye candy, the release was better than I thought. I am pale…like Twilight vampire pale…so I usually shy away from beachy, summery collections. But this one impressed me. I picked up the tealish liner Float on By – gorgeous. The olive one is pretty too, but I don’t wear olive enough to warrant the purchase. I loved Sweet and Punchy e/s, but opted to not get it as it looked a bit like gangrene on my skin. I also have Humid and Shimmermoss already…worth it if you don’t have them. I got Temperature Rising lip liner – totally not something I would usually wear, but all of the MAs were wearing it, even the pale ones. Some wore it as lipstick alone, others added on the glosses to change the shade. I picked up Flurry of Fun lipglass. It is such an amazing color I could not pass up. Kind of a tangerine with these wonderful teal flashes of glitter. I can never pass up the MAC colors that show iridescent flashes! I'll come back and add some photos...

It was also my first time checking out the Superglasses. LOVE! Can’t wait to wear one today. I got Cherry Electric, Sugar Overload, and Gift Wrap. I had picked out Sugar Overload and two others prior to seeing them, so was surprised that I switched picks once I saw them. Usually all of the swatches online helps me to pick beforehand, but seeing them in person is totally different. Someone said Sugar Overload is like Sugarrimmed, but it is not. Sugarrimmed is blue glitter, where as Sugar Overload is almost orangey-bronzey. Gift Wrap is this gorgeous melony color – I had gotten my nails done a week ago in a similar color and am now obsessed with it for summer. Cherry Electric is a yummy cherry shade that is not too pink, not orange. I was really hoping to like the grape colored one, but no go. Someday I will find the grape colored lipstick I have been waiting for. The closest I have is a Lipmix, but it is too sheer to wear alone.

So…hope you all enjoyed my ramblings! I have been taking a makeup hiatus this past year, so maybe now I will get back in to it and post to you guys with more frequency!
